Apologies and Watcha Workin On Wednesday...

First and most important... my sincerest apologies to Tammy and Jo-Anne for not posting a tag and an award. I really do appreciate every time someone gives me an award or tags me. I do try to get to them it just sometimes gets away from me. Especially right now with my giveaway going on I lost track of some of my posts. But fear not I have gone through them and are trying to get back to each of you. So... The tag from Tammy was to tell you six random things about myself which I did yesterday but I wanted to let her know I did read her post and answered it.

Now Jo-Anne has graciously awarded me with this great award...

I am suppose to pick only 5 blogs for this award, but I just can't. I have met so many new friends through my giveaway that I feel everyone deserves it. Please feel free to take this award and use it wisely and may the force be with you. LOL (A little Star Wars in there).

If I have missed anyone else who has given me any awards or tags please speak up or forever hold your peace. I am a scatter brain still, but am slowly trying to get back.

Ok, well,on to Watcha Working on Wednesday. For the first few days of being home I slept and cleaned last week so not much got accomplished. So I will share a few things we got to.

First my hubby built me this stool. I don't know whether to leave it alone or paint and distress it. I haven't decided nor do I know where I want to put it. He built me this before I left. Yes this is exactly what I wanted it to look like. I saw one in a store I loved it so I came up with the measurements and he used the power tools.

Next I have a big supply of slate from my great aunts house and decided I needed to try painting on it. I like it, but again it's missing something. Words, picture, or something above the checkerboard. Again I'm open for suggestions. I started this before I left and just haven't finished it yet. Next I'd like to try a welcome sign on another piece. But that is down the road.

Then on Sunday I decided it was time to paint my front door that faces in the house. So I choose red of course how original huh? LOL. This is the same red I have throughout my house. My camera wouldn't cooperate today and it is really dark, but at this time of day my foyer is really dark. Anyway, you get the picture. I still need to trim around the door a little bit better but I have to have the door open to do it. At this time I don't have a storm door, so all the bugs invite themselves in. I am going to order a door soon. We still need to finish the floor with quarter round too, but like everything I have to wait on hubby and as of this weekend deer season opens, so I'll be waiting a long time. LOL.

Last but not least I have been doing a lot of soul searching both during my trip and after coming home. I am making some tough decisions, both professionally and crafting. As of now it looks as though I will be closing down my website at the end of the year and not wholesaling either. I have so many things I need to do to my home like strip doors, paint, and such and I just don't have the time right now. I have also decided to further my career in more of a leadership role in EMS. I haven't figured out how I will do that yet, but I am looking. I am currently a captain on the department, but would like to move up. So there are many workshops I need to attend and schooling I need to do. Never fear I will still be posting here just maybe not everyday. I could never leave my "friends" or my love of prims. But more on all this later.

Please check out Leslie's blog as there are many wonderful people who participate in Watcha Working on Wednesday and if you don't you should think about it as it is a lot of fun.

  1. good morning mary!!
i dont think closing the website is a step back. i think you are doing a good thing by saving money on the fees and hey, you know you can sell on your blog and etsy.. there are so many gals that are selling on their blogs and doing very well at it. i understand the part about trying to do things around the house. i sometimes feel overwhelmed. i have been contemplating painting the living room, like forever!!

i think its cool that you are striving for a bigger part in EMS. how about teaching?? or going county to county setting up emergency preparedness programs? or the vocational schools( getting kids involved) ?

take some classes/conferences that will also give you college credits.

one of my sisters is working on a mobile ICU unit and is loving it.
i couldnt remember if you were a critcial care paramedic or not, but i think that would be awesome!!!

keep us posted or else we will all be looking for ya. and you aint that far away. teehee
    hugs, kim

  4. Mary,
You deserve a break after being away! Do not feel bad. Also, I think your plans for the future sound great and you need to do what you need to do. :)

I like your bench. It's very simple but very Prim :)

I'm sure I love your red door because both of my doors are red, too!

    Have a great day!

  6. Well I'll be sad when you have close you website...but what an exciting time this will be for you and your career. I was a nurse before staying home with the boys and health care is so rewarding. I do miss it sometimes, but being with my boys is much more important to me right now. I can't wait to see what's in store for you and wish you all the best!

  7. Wow, you are so busy and creative and I know balancing all that can be well, exhausting. I love your little bench and I'm a fan of slate painting because that's how I started out 20 years ago and still do it today. I like yours.
Blessings on your new adventures. I'll say a prayer for guidance in your decisions.

  8. As for the stole I would paint it and distress it myself. Give it that little touch of your magic.
Nothing is coming on the checker board as what to do. Maybe put your last name on the top. Hmmm not sure. The creative juices aren't flowing.
I love the door why are you replacing it? You can ship it to Arizona. he he
I hear you about the waiting Elk season is almost here so good bye Honey and son.
Have a great Wednesday! Hugs, Bobbi Jo

  9. Well Mary, you just can't beat a red door! I think they make a great statement and have lots of character!

Sometimes it just helps to come to a decision in your mind and act on it...doesn't it? I think it's a great thing to further your education and make plans to move up with what you do!

How about painting the word Home or stenciling it above the game board?

    Have a great day!

  10. I love the little stool. You are so fortunate that your hubby is handy with power tools!

Though I couldn't really see the paint in your door picture, let me just say, I LOVE that door. The glass is gorgeous!

It sounds like a lot of changes will be going on in your life. Change keeps life from getting dull! :-)

  11. Sometimes in life we just need to do something different and move on. I had to make that difficult decision when I left my school. nd it turned out great. Today I made another difficult decision about my volunteer work and I am moving on to other things.

I hope that the pieces fall into place and whatever you end up doing in your career, you will be wonderful. You are a special person and I think you would be great in a leadership role. I wish you the best and much success in your chosen role!

  12. I'm sure that everyone understands the choices you are making and why. You have to do what you feel is right for you.
Since my Dad became so ill, I haven't done a lot of crafting or much of anything really. I might go somewhere special to thrift once in a blue moon or make something once in awhile. I have to put him and my grandaughter first, and I wouldn't want it any other way. We have to learn to keep our priorities straight.
    Blessings to you!

  13. Hi Mary, sounds like you are comfortable with your decision. Remember that life is all about seasons, and while this is a season for you to concentrate on your family and home and EMS career, I'm sure a season will come when you can devote as much time to your creativity as you would like. Best Wishes and God Bless!

  14. I love the bench your hubby made you. I think it would look good either way, natural or painted.

Soul searching is always good. It opens our minds to new possibilities.
    Hugs and blessings to you~
