I Need HELP!!!!!!

This will be a short post because I'm in the middle of a project. But in order to move on I need some help! This is just one of many projects I have done this weekend. Though no one came to my Come Craft With Me Day I crafted all day long by myself. Actually I've been crafting AND redecorating all weekend long.

So here we are...

I am making a flag quilt thinga ma bobby! Alright I'm not sure exactly, but I do know it needs stars. Here is where I need your help. I know I am NOT putting 50 stars on here BUT I can't decide 1 or 13? OK next question should they be fabric or should I stitch it with embroidery floss? I am hoping you don't say fabric because I have no idea how I'm going to do that! LOL.

Above view...

This was sew simple so far. Straight lines everywhere. I already had all the fabric so no money spent on this recently.

Alright just so you come back I'll show a sneak peek at my redecorating.

  2. If you have Michaels, Hancock Fabrics, or a Walmart close by ..I have bought tiny star buttons from them before...that's one alternative to embroidering stars...

  4. Hey Mary! I think the star button idea is a good one and easy too! Before I read that, I was thinking penny stars, like you would stitch on a penny rug. But I wouldn't do 50! LOL! That would take forever!
I'm sure it will turn out great!

  5. Love the shelf Mary and the little outfits! I vote 13 stars in a circle, fabric and fusible webbing.. then just do prim stitches for effect if you like. If I lived closer I would have been happy to spend a day crafting!

  6. I like Hayleys idea. Fusible web on the pack, iron them on and then either hand blanket stitch them or use your sewing machine with a blanket stitch. To add texture you could even do them in wool! It would be great!

  7. The flag is coming great! My
quilt group did one and we drew for it and I won it. We did 13 stars and they are small paper pieced, 12 around in a circle and the 13th is in the center.
Penny would look good, but you could put the buttons on or tack the penny on until you have them finished. Something quick like that would have it ready for July
    4th.

  9. I would do one big star with fabric. Use fusible web...you iron it on the fabric, away a backing and then iron it on to the square you have. Then just stitch around the star using the button hole stitch. You can get fusible web at JoAnn's. It is cheap and really easy to use. I promise. Let me know if you have any questions.

  11. 13 stars! Craft store may have cloth star cut outs? Then stitch them fast was what I was thinking but reading other comments I believe star buttons would be wonderful. I had seen very small star buttons at the local Walmart. Good luck! Love the shelf & display. Sorry you were all alone crafting. If only I lived closer I think this would have been so much fun crafting & getting to know you. There is no one around here that enjoys this kind of thing or primitives. I guess I am out of their time period.
