Need some help...

I posted a pic of my new foyer floor in an earlier post. Well, here it is with grout as you enter my home. I need to repaint the walls and yes the baseboards. I can't strip them because not all the wood base and trim match. I already thought about it trust me. Anyway, when you see brick... what colors do think of?

Here's the floor it actually has grey grout...

This is part of the room that the foyer opens into...

I was thinking of using the upper wall color for the walls, but I can't decide on the base and trim color. Or, I could go totally different I am not sure. Or do I leave the color that it is and paint the woodwork? I just hate white!!!! Please voice your opinion I need it.

  1. Hi there! Thanks for commenting on my blog. I was actually hoping you would come back and comment because I lost your blog address. I don't have any suggestions for colors, but I'm sure whatever you do will look great!

  2. I love the floor! I can't tell the colors of the dining room from the photo's for sure but I would think the top wall color on the trim and then a dark aged off white for the walls? I don't do white either.

Yup - the Nesco's are roaster ovens - no one seems to know what I mean when I say that. I use the two smaller ones ALL the time and the bigger one for most family gatherings. And when we have a big cookout, I put water in the bottom, layer the corn on the cob on the roasting rack and steam the corn outside so it is easy to serve and no heating up the kitchen! Try it sometimez!

  3. It's hard to see the colors in there for sure, but I like Linda's suggestions! I don't like white either!

How about flipping the colors too? Pick the reddest color brick and do that color on the wall and paint the trim the lightest or medium color tan from the bricks.

  4. Do you think the reds will clash??? The bottom color in my dining room is cabin red (which I want to darken) The top is a dark beige/brown.

  5. In my experience, reds can be a little tricky to match.
I am having my own dilemma with paint colors at the moment....so I may not be the best one to offer advice. BUT, I happened to hear (on HGTV) that chocolate brown is making a comeback for trim and as an accent color....
I like Linda's suggestions. And, after looking at her adorable house pictures, I think she is an authority on house decor! :)

  6. I wouldn't use red unless you can get one that matches up with the darkest red in the brick. Otherwise I would go with a chocolate brown on the trim. The floor looks great!
