New Website Items

My SIL Tiffany from Tiffany's Primitive Place has made some awesome Halloween items that she is allowing me to sell on my website. So if you decorate for Halloween with mummies or Frankenstein make sure you check it out. Just so you know two of my bonnets and apron sets have been made re available for sale. Please visit if you haven't Gettysburg Homestead

Here's a sneak peak of Tiffany's items...

Julie has also been so kind as to give me the Primitive Excellence award. I am so thrilled each time one of you thinks of me and awards me. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be an inspiration as normally everyone else inspires me. LOL. I guess what goes around comes around. But since I've already participated, if you don't already have this award please post it on your blog from me!

Well, today I have been catching up on laundry, running errands, and painting. I am so not in a creative mode lately. I hate this. There are so many ideas swimming around up in the old head, but I can't seem to be able to get the supplies out and start. I have been just so tired and have lost all energy. Maybe I'm just ready for the cooler weather to start and this hot dry weather to end. Heck I couldn't even muster up the energy to go to Goodwill today. You know it's bad when that happens. LOL. Well, I best get busy with something to make it look like I've accomplished something today.

Watcha Working on Wednesday

For the most part I couldn't get in the mood to do anything over the weekend. But because I made a promise to myself to join Leslie's challenge I took a few pictures of what my FIL worked on, my MIL and SIL worked on, and only one thing I worked on.

First, my MIL calls me from her car phone to ask if I wanted a rocker for my porch. She knows I do, but then she proceeds to tell me it is in the trash in front of someones house and did I want her to get it. Well, why not I could use it for decoration. So my SIL Tiffany was home and she wrestled it into the car to bring to my house. We won't be able to sit in it and rock, but it is really awesome to decorate with. Oh and there is the tater bin I haven't finished yet. I just can't decided what to do.

Next while we went shopping on Saturday my FIL came over and hung a light above my dining room table. This is a hand me down from my MIL until I can afford what I want. I think it works great. But for some reason one of light bulbs was missing so I threw a waxy bulb in it. Do you see it? I figured I'd point it out before one of you did. :-) So now I need to go buy bulbs for the light. Just so you know I did not have a light above my table before. We had to eat by table lamp light. I didn't have to worry what the food looked like then. Now I have to make it appetizing looking. LOL.

Now lastly I finally made more panels for my window. Not exactly what I want, but the sun is so bright it is bleaching out my dining table and antiques. Linda gave me the idea to use roller shades, but I can't get my hubby to commit. So while biting my nails and pacing while waiting to see if I was going to leave I sewed these up quick. I do open them when the sun isn't as bright.

Well, that's it. Now I need to get busy and do some things around here.

Honey I'm Home...

Well since all of you were praying so hard Gustav weakened in strength and I didn't have to go to Louisiana. HOWEVER... we are now watching Hanna on the Eastern Shore. If predicted correctly it will hit Florida and South Carolina. So, once again it is a wait and watch. I will unpack my bags and hope I can stay home. I know my kids and maybe hubby (LOL) will be glad to see me stay. You should have seen me trying to explain how I do things in less than an hour and what bills needed paid while I was gone. Hubby just looked at me and shook his head. I'm not quite sure he knew what all I was talking about. He just kept telling everyone I was leaving and he was going to change the locks while I was gone. He didn't tell anyone why I was leaving. So, of course my Mother believed him and got mad at him until he set her straight. My hubby quite the jokester.

I still did go shopping on Saturday for a few hours. I kept my phone nearby just in case. Our weather was beautiful and it was hard to believe what the south was going to see. We hit about 4 stores in about 5 hours with drive time. I picked up some items for my 100th post giveaway, so I can't show you those yet. Otherwise I'll show you what I got...

My favorite candle Butter Maple Syrup and yummy smelling wax dipped corn. I wanted these so bad last year.

1/2 price basket because the handle was broke. I fixed it with super glue turned it to the back and there you have it a basket. Now I don't normally do blue... but I liked the shape and the color.

I'm thinking bonnet and apron. On sale of course.

Yes knit stockings. I'm going to try to make some after Linda made some and inspired me to try.

And my candle shelf. I'm debating on having hubby drill holes to put candle in instead of having a jar sit on it.

And I bought 3 of Judy Condon's books. I can't seem to peel myself away from them. They are fabulous. I got Country on a Shoestring Of Hearth and Home and A Simpler Time . If you like Early American antiques and decorating there are great pictures in them.

Well, I must get back to the routine. Thanks everyone so much for your thoughts and prayers. You are all the bestest!!! And for those who still may be going down to the gulf to help or have family down there I will say an extra prayer for them.

Update...

My partner and I have been on stand down until Monday or Tuesday after Gustav hits the gulf. Remember when I went to those really boring classes? Well, this is an instance where I would use it. Our county picked my partner and I as the only ones going down I think because I had those classes in management level. We were to leave by midnight last night for Alexandria, Louisiana for evacuations, however, we were going with other people from the state of Ohio and it is a 17 hour drive and we could not get down in time for evacuations so we were told to wait. Wait until the hurricane hits and then if needed we will be headed down for an unknown amount of time. It was initially told to us we would be down there until Sept 8th, but they said that will change if we head down later. I will try to keep you updated as I know and I thank you each for your out pouring of prayers and please continue. There is always a chance if it isn't as bad as expected that we won't have to go so for my kids sake please pray for this option.

So in case I leave and you don't have to wait... Remember this was a rush job on the pictures so you all could see.

Now you know why I have covers on my furniture.

Of course there are rules for this award so here they are.

3.)Nominate 7 blogs who haven't received the award yet.
4.) Add links to those blogs on your blog.
5.) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs!

Here are the seven I chose:

Cranberry Crossings
Country Girl at Home
Black Sheep Prims
Peper Creek Gatherings
Raggedy Angel
Tomato Creek Primitives
Cozy Coop Corner

Well, to those who read my blog daily I am sorry no post yesterday, but I made myself decorate for fall. I am 3/4s of the way done because I ran out of stuff. Can you believe that? I am so excited though because my MIL called me Wednesday and asked if I wanted to go shopping in Berlin (Ohio Amish Country) on Saturday as they are having a sale from 8a-10a with 20% off in one of my favorite stores. So of course I told her YES. I tell my hubby I am going becuase I ran out of stuff so he says "You really ran out of stuff? I thought you had a lot more stuff...how could you be out. But what you've done so far has put me in the fall mood." My hubby is very supportive of my style and decorating. I did tell him not to get used to it because it would probably change. He said " I don't get used to it until the fall comes down and you decorate for Christmas. That way I know you're done moving it around." LOL. So I moved furniture cleaned and dusted. I always say things have to speak to me on where to put them. For now I do have to tell you it is already somewhat different than the last pictures you saw. BUT no pictures yet. I will wait when the sun is out to take them. I also went to the thrift store and bought yes more fabric and zinc lids for my jars. I am at work today so no other pictures today. Sorry.

BUT here is my Fat Friday recipe:

My lasagna...

lasagna noodles uncooked
1 lb of browned hamburger or sausage
1 container of ricotta cheese
1 bag of cheese (I use cheddar)
2 jars of spaghetti sauce (or one big jar)
other things that you like mixed in peppers, mushrooms, or whatever

Brown your hamburger and add onion if you'd like. While you are waiting for that I start assembling my lasagna. I pour sauce in the bottom of a 9X13 glass baking dish enough to cover it well (Keeps the bottom from burning) Next place your uncooked noodles on the sauce one single layer. Then after the hamburger is done I put that on top of noodles. I then put a whole container of ricotta cheese on the meat. If adding anything else throw that in too. I then put a layer of cheddar cheese and top with more uncooked noodles one layer. I then pour more sauce on top of the noodles and cover with foil. I put it into a 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Once done pull out and put more cheese on top and let it melt. So easy !!!

Watcha Working on Wednesday

In honor of Leslie, who at the moment is at the fair having fun, I have decided to carry on with my Watcha Workin on Wednesday. Now, you will be allowed in for a rare glimpse into my real life. This is not a reenactment, this is the real thing. For those who have anxiety it is best not to look at this awful monster. Please go to someone elses blog. Ok.... for those who are left and enjoy walking on edge here it is... I am sure you have never seen anything like it... Oh the thought... I have no idea what to think... I am at a loss for words (for once) hehe not really!!! Oh the devastation....

The Day the Prim Fairy Threw Up!!!! (hehe Elise you know what I'm talking about)

Yes I am taking down my summer decor and packing it up. Hey look my goose is mooning you!!!! LOL.

I just kinda throw stuff everywhere until I decided where it should go. Notice the black and orange tub... yep color coordinate for fall. I keep all my fall in this color... fancy I know. I still have a couple more upstairs in the attic this is not all. Fear not!!!!

Don't get too excited yet... I'm sure my cabinet and dry sink won't stay like this. Things will move around a hundred times.

Ummmm... yeah I have all these Longaberger baskets that I don't really want to decorate with, but I spent lots of ebay money on these. They are very hard to fit in with what I envision.

Do you recognize the fruit??? LOL. Yeah they just move around the house. This probably won't stay like this either.

Last but not least my kitchen. I am so not happy with above my cupboards. I know what I want, but can't afford it and it makes me sad. I know give it time... but yet again it'll change.

Geez I should've taken pics of my basement too. I'm pretty proud of it, but I did that not too long ago so I won't do it again. Other than that I haven't done a darn thing. I need to though. I guess there is always tomorrow.
