More Fall Decorating...

Woohoo!!! I got on a roll last evening. After grocery shopping and my massage (which is helping my chronic pain) I came home and decided I needed to get decorating. The reason is I need to find my dining room table so I can start another fall quilt. I have bought the cutest fall fabric at Wal-mart this year. I am so excited. I also had a brainstorm yesterday to help my daughter. As you'll remember she is a high functioning autistic, has ADHD, and a non-verbal learning disability. Anyway, this effects her fine motor skills. Last year in one of her classes she learned how to tie the fringe fleece blankets. Anyway, I have some awesome fall fleece and told her if she made a blanket I would put it up on my website to sell. I told her she could keep the money if it sells. So I am killing two birds with one stone. She is really excited about it. I am hoping we can start on it this weekend.

So I did what I said by tearing everything off my shelves in the dining room and started over. I think I might actually like it except for one shelf. So grab a cup of joe and enjoy...

This is the shelf I'm NOT in love with below.

I reposted this one because you will note I now have curtains thanks to Steve. I found some wrought iron rods for $13.00 at Wal-mart in the clearance section. Steve fussed over them for almost an hour trying to make them look right. LOL. I told him I needed to take them down because it is just a piece of fabric draped over the rod and I needed to cut it down to the right size and line and hem it.

I ended up not using everything I have. I will try to post pics of the entire rooms once I get everything cleaned up. I still need to put away some things. I'm thinking I want a fall "tree". You know a Christmas tree with fall ornies on it. Hmmmm... I'd really like one that looks like it's dying kinda a brown color. Not sure where I'll find one, but if any of you know let me know. LOL. Thanks again for stopping by!

Preliminary Fall Decorating

I have been struggling this year to decorate my home for fall. I have no idea why. It might be that I received my Christmas issue of Country Sampler the day I was working on it. LOL. Not really I was struggling before that even. I LOVE fall I LOVE the colors that go with fall. I have a TON of fall decorations. Three totes to be exact. I am just not pleased with where I put things and end up moving it or putting it back in the box. Anyway, I did do some decorating. The main room I'm now having trouble with is my dining room. I think what I might have to do is take everything off the shelves and start over instead of adding stuff here and there. Not sure I will have time today because it's my day off and I have a boat load of stuff to get done. Anyway, enough of the blabbing. I'll show you the start of my decorating...

And now I have all this left. LOL.

OK now I have a few questions for you. Do you use pine cones in your fall decorating? I'm thinking I am going too. Does any one still decorate with a wrought iron basket tree? Remember when these were popular? I still have one in my garage. I still have a ton of fall Longaberger baskets from years ago. Not sure if I want to use them in my dining room or where. Or if at all.

I must apologize to all my faithful comment leavers and readers. Is "leavers" a word? LOL. Probably not!!! Anyway, I have been so busy recently I haven't had time to read any blogs. I hope to very soon. It's suppose to rain today so I will be in the house unless I paint my TV stand in the garage. Thanks again for stopping by.

Some New Finishes

I haven't done much since my last post because my daughter, who was sick last week, decided to share the wealth. Actually it was my allergies to ragweed decided to kick in. The pollen counts were astronomical last week. Then my boss sent my self and my partner to cover the Jr. High football game, which is a field totally surrounded by weeds especially ragweed. As of today, I can smell and taste some what too. My cough sounds like I'm trying to cough up a lung. LOL. Yesterday I was feeling spry so I decided to get some things done.

While Steve was cleaning out my garage of his stuff so that he could finish my TV cabinet. His plumbing junk that sometimes he brings to my place and leaves it if he has another job coming up near me. Then I felt guilty because most of it is MY stuff. So I went out and went through some things. I have decided to pull all the items off my selling website and sell them at a yard sale. So, if you are still deciding on anything you had better let me know. Friday will be the last day. Im open to offers. After I take the stuff down I will then begin to make things to sell on the Mercantile.

I just remembered I went to Goodwill, before I got sick, the other day and bought two things. And yesterday I went back to drop some things off I had found in the garage. I'm trying to weed things out finally. But back to what I was saying I found some things I forgot about and decided to start doing some makeovers.

My newest Goodwill items...

Really not my style. Plastic flowers!!!!

You can never have enough Indian corn for fall in my opinion.

Before:

Repainted with some thrift store paint. LOL So this one is really a good deal at $1.50.

Now on to my other redos.

I finally got Steve to hang it last night. I am still trying to dig out my redware plates, but I also want to put some fall goodies up there too.

My $2.00 frame and my no glare glass. This will be hung to the left of my black shelf. The frame is weird that we have to figure out how we are going to hang it.

I bought these awhile back and they were white. You all know my feeling on white. LOL. So Steve took them and spray painted them black. These too will be in my living room opposite of the black shelf above my TV cabinet when I get done painting it.

Lastly, I bought these candle holder boxes a LONG time ago to paint. I dug them out and decided to paint them since I was humming along. These will be listed on my selling blog after Friday.

I have one more project started, but I'm not going to show it until after it's done. I now can get to my fall stuff so I plan on decorating this week for fall. The kids and I are going to the county fair today. Should be a nice day. Until next time.

My Flea/Antique Finds and Redecorating

This past weekend was my weekend to work so on my days off I tried to get things done. Lets see I believe I went to the flea market/antique store on Friday. Yes Yes it was because my daughter came down with a cold and stayed home from school. Then while I was at the flea market the middle school called me to tell me my son had been stung by a bee twice on his finger and that I needed to bring some Benedryl for him. His poor finger was swollen up huge and they had him put ice on it. He isn't allergic to bees thankfully. He told me later that he had a hard time staying awake after I gave him Benedryl. LOL. Nothing like drugging your kid.

So anyway... I got some great stuff at the flea market. They finally got some new vendors. For awhile there I didn't find anything. It was the same stuff all the time. Anyway, I found my solution to the wall over my couch. It did look like this... I'm not a big white fan.

After... With my redware plates on it will be just what I want. Now if only Steve would hang it for me.

I keep seeing this green glass decanters or whatever they are in the magazines many of the people have them in their "tavern" rooms. I thought this was close enough looking and for $3.00 SOLD. Now if I could only find some pewter goblets to go with it.

Then I found this little oil lamp. I just LOVE these because you can tuck them anywhere and they are cheap. Don't worry keep reading I will show you where I put it at the end of the post.

This brown stone bowl was rather cheap too.

How about a $5.00 crock? It has a crack, but I don't care I just turn it around.

Next I found this chair pad. I don't think it is old, but I like the colors. I have it outside drying because I washed and man it was dirty. Yuck...

Ok then Sunday I got the the make over bug...

One of my bowls drying... I may have to go over it again as it looks blotchy.

Then my $.50 corner shelf.

Of course since I was redecorating my kitchen I decided I needed some garlands to hang. So I made a dried apple and cinnamon stick and a rosehip and cinnamon stick one.

And of course you want to see where I put it right? On the door of this display. I forgot this isn't the photo with my brownstone bowl sitting on top of this display. And down the left corner is my lamp.

Well off to get some things done on my day off. I need to get to the glass shop for glass to put in my frames, a massage, and then a meeting with the school to talk about my daughters IEP.

Decorating and Shopping Goodies

I am still getting used to my old shift since I went back to it on Tuesday. It makes for a very long day sitting in a truck for 11 1/2 hours of my 14 hour shift. UGGGHHH.. Then the boss wanted to know why I seemed upset when he saw me. UHHHH HELLOOO you cheated me out of a shift change. He acted is if nothing happened. I just wanted to slap him silly. I worked Tuesday and Wednesday and was off yesterday and today. Yesterday I did a little decorating in the kitchen. YEAH yeah I know I haven't finished the living room yet. I am still riding the fence about what to do over the couch. So anyway, here are few displays so far.

As for the rest of the kitchen I am measuring and thinking. I will need Steve's help for the rest. Today he is off. Yesterday he was off too because he got another kidney stone. He needs to go to the doctor but he has no insurance. With every stone he gets they get bigger and bigger.

I got to thinking I never showed you what I got on my shopping trip with my friends.

I got a yard of this great linen. It was only $4.99. The two edges are already hemmed I just need to hem the short sides and my table runner is done.

Then I found this great fabric. If you click on the picture you can enlarge it to see. It is sampler pattern on it. I think I'm going to try to use it as a pattern and actually stitch a few of them on cloth.

Love this plate. Polka Dots!!! It was 50% off.

Then this little quilt was on sale for $4.00. It'll look great in my dining room.

The next thing I found at Goodwill and forgot to show you. A different game board. A little satin and I will be set.

Then last night while Steve was trying to pass his kidney stone I started another cross stitch I found on line for FREE. I'm not using the color chart they recommend I'm doing my own.

Today we shall see what I get into. LOL. I have an urge to do a make over. Though it might rain today so no painting outside. BUT I have a few projects I could do inside. Until next time.
