The Booth

I went to the booth yesterday to see what was going on and what had sold. My short term memory is awful because to me it didn't look like much had sold. Boy was I pleasantly surprised when I got my money. We sold quite a bit of our handmades. Luckily she lists everything we sell on a receipt so I could jog my memory. LOL.

While I was there I did take some pics of what's left. I am so excited to take the new display to the booth next week. I will tell you that it involves two HUGE old doors and some really old aged wood. I told Steve that I would not be selling any of it. LOL. One day I will put it on my front porch when I have one.

So... WELCOME...

I found out this cabinet fell over sometime last week and luckily it didn't break. I know it is not decorated the best, but the lady from the flea market just pushed it back up and threw stuff on the shelves. I need to go back and redo. Just didn't have time.











Well, it looks like my friends and I need to get busy to refill some of the empty spaces and rearrange.

Its A Beautiful Morning

It is a nice cool morning as I sit here sharing with you. The coffee tastes extra good and my fluffy robe feels nice and warm. Both kids are still sleeping and all I hear are the birds singing away. I LOVE this part of the day.

I told you yesterday I'd be rearranging the booth, well Steve got called to work. Since his jobs are sometimes few and far between he is going to work instead. I will still be going because I haven't stopped in for awhile and need to pick any money we made. I will hopefully be taking some pictures since I haven't for awhile.

Yesterday I worked on finishing up a few projects I started awhile back. First, off I bought two baskets from Goodwill for $0.79 a piece. They both were unfinished like this one. I forgot to take a pic of the other.



Well, I debated and debated whether to paint or stain them. I even went as far as to buy spray paint. But the little voice in my head said reach out for help on this one. So I posted on Facebook and one of my good friends PAM, who makes baskets and samplers that are so beautiful, answered back and told me staining would work better. She advised me to use either mineral spirits or paint thinner to "water" down my stain and then put it on. Let me tell you the stain flows better and gets in all the cracks and crevices my brush couldn't. I think they turned out awesome!



Next thing I finished was this chair I found in the trash last summer. It was in front of my neighbors in laws house shortly after she passed away. He told me she died in one her chairs. I am hoping it's not this one! I don't think he saw the chair in my garage yet. LOL This pic was from my phone so it's not great. It is a dark brown with a striped cushion.

I had Steve take the seat off because I would be recovering that and painting the chair. This is the first chair redo and seat covering I've done. I painted the chair back a week or two age when I had time. Yesterday I grabbed the seat and got started.

I took off the first layer to find this. They must really like stripes. lol



So then I took off the next layer to find this. WHAT??? another layer seriously people.



My hands were hurting from taking out all the upholstery tacks by this point. But since the batting was still in excellent condition I left it on the seat. You know it's weird. It looks just like raw cotton. It still has all the plant parts in it.



I'm pretty sure most of you have probably recovered a seat so I won't go through the steps. HOWEVER... if you haven't I learned a little something I'll pass along. To cut the new fabric for my seat I used the last covering as my pattern. I traced around it and added a little extra just in case. I then put the fabric in my coffee stain and soaked it. I laid it out in the sun until it was dry. OK so far so good. When it was dry I brought it in to begin. I laid it down on the floor and put the wood seat on top. WHAT ?!?!?! it shrank!!!!! It was not as big as it was. SO if you are going to recover a seat either wash the fabric or soak it first before cutting. I pulled and tugged and made it work though. I even used upholstery tacks instead of staples. I even hit my thumb a few times in the process. LOL.

These pics were in my garage I know the color is hard to see but it is a neutral colored ticking fabric I had on hand.



So after a coat of black paint here she is. I have a few touch ups to do. But this will be my new kitchen chair since my other one broke one night when Steve leaned back in it. LOL.





Steve cleaned up the garage a bit so I can get to some of my other redos in progress, so we'll see what I get into today. Have a primtastic day!!!

OH there was a question on my yard sale goods I posted a few days back and forgot to answer yesterday. I couldn't reply by email since I couldn't get the addy. Anyway , the grouping in my bedroom was $22 for the chair, table, and candle holder. Totally terrific price right!!!!

Finally!

I have decided as of July I will no longer be working Thursday through Sunday. Working four long days is too much. This past week in that time period I worked 55 1/2 hours. I had no time to do anything obviously. I don't want my whole world to be work. My bills are getting to a comfortable point that I can semi breathe. I'm hoping to be free to craft a little more.

As promised, I got some things last week on my one day off from the thrift store and one of the prim/country stores I go to. Which now has a website http://www.shopaudreysattic.com/. Now you can see some of the good stuff I see too!

I LOVE the patina on this high chair with the back cut off. My BFFs happened to be pricing this when I was in the store. I asked if either of them would be buying it and they said no. So it came home with me.



This little beauty I got for like $22. It started out $65. I saw this thing months and months ago, but I was not paying that much. It got marked down to $45 and when I went in they happened to be giving 50% off the red tag so then I snatched it up. I also got some fake chestnuts to throw in a bowl or jar.



Another cheese box to paint. I have two now. I need to get cracking!!!lol





Awesome right!!! This will be a new pattern for Steve to cut out and paint or stain. He said the scroll saw we bought at the yardsale will work great for this. Oh yeah it was a Goodwill find. Steve wanted the iron thing with a clothespin on it. I'm guessing it's a recipe card holder.



Who can pass up dried corn? I happen to leave some out all year. After last fall when I had Indian corn and thought I'd keep it til this year and ummm it got bugs in it. GROSS!!!!! So I bought the already dried stuff. lol



I would show you my flowers for summer, but one of them died all already. LOL. I need to go get another one to replace it. Steve planted them and has been watering them for me since I have been so busy. Today is my day off to get everything done. Laundry, errands, and a massage (my fibro has been acting up and I'm not sleeping that well again.) So my friends I will cut this short. I have a few projects I've started but not finished so let's see what I can get finished today to show you tomorrow. It is suppose to be beautiful and cool today. I have a little painting and staining to do so I can do it outside. See you tomorrow I promise! lol

Oh and Steve and I will be redoing the booth tomorrow so I will be sure to take my camera. He got a really cool idea for separation walls of the next booth.

New Stuff I Scored

Normally I score at the Goodwill. However, this weekend I hit the jackpot! The motherload of all motherloads. The best of all... a PRIM YARDSALE!!!! What, who would believe such a thing of a prim gal selling her stuff at such LOW prices. Steve and I were on our way home from Wooster after I had to fight with Verizon Wireless (oh that is a story all on its own.) Anyway, I am a window peeper. I admit I like driving by people's houses and like to look in their windows if they have the curtains open. Well, there is always this one little blue ranch house that always had a crock bench and crocks on her front porch. As of late the house was up for sale. Too bad my credit still stinks!!! I always wondered if this house belonged to a prim girl. Anyway, so we drive by this house and lo and behold SHE was having a garage sale. NO WAY!!!! I looked at Steve and said that it looked like she had some great stuff in the driveway. We decided since neither of us had cash on us we weren't going to stop. I was HEARTBROKE. All I could think about was this garage sale overnight. I told Steve that before we went to the booth that I would like to go see what she had. So I grabbed up my booth money and we went. OH MY WORD!!!! I didn't know where to start and what to grab first. Luckily we were the only ones there. I started a pile!!!! The lady said the house was sold and she was moving to California so she needed to get rid of stuff and that she had furniture in the house if we were interested. Whether ot not I was actually going to buy it was irrelevant LOL. I wanted to see the inside of the house I had always wondered about. I was not disappointed. This lady took Steve and I on a tour. I was salivating everywhere. It was very simply decorated and was actually quite small. But it was gorgeous. She said that whomever bought the house actually bought some of the furniture too. LUCKY people!!!! Steve actually took some pics with her permission of course. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I think that prim people have to be some of the nicest people around. I thanked her profusely and told her I just LOVED her house.

So what I bought is only a sampling. She said she had tons of stuff on Friday and that I should've come them. I think I would have really been in trouble. As it was I have never spent so much at a yardsale. I can't believe that I'm going to tell you I spent $92.25.

All this and a scroll saw that I didn't take pictures of. I was so excited! Even one of friends Rose called me to tell me about the ladies yard sale. I told her I had already been there. The lady even told me she had yard sales every year. WHAT??? Why didn't I know that??!!?? I'd a been there every time!!! Well, wait if I would've been I'd be living in a cardboard box because I'd be broke! LOL

Well, my friends my computer blew up again and is being repaired. So I am posting from Steve's computer that is next to get fixed. I can't look at blogs but at least I can post. I will try to catch up with you tomorrow because I work a really long shift at my second job and have a computer I can use. Talk to you all soon because I have other things to show you that I found at the Goodwill and one of my favorite prim shops.

Alright my Friday is happier than during the past few weeks I think. I'm not sure if it is my computer or blogger or the combo of both. I have been unable to comment on blogs or for that matter internet explorer would not let me open some of your blogs. Or internet explorer would just keep shutting down and not let me on at all. So I figured I'd use Steve's computer... NOT... his is acting up with tons of red Xs so I can't see pictures. Then it gives me error messages. I hate being computer illiterate!!!! LOL. So here is my sincere apology that I have not been visiting some of you like I normally do. I updated my Microsoft stuff on my computer and downloaded Mozilla Firefox as my browser so I am going to try to get on at home tonight. Fingers crossed I fixed the problem.

So today I am at work and the chief is away so the employees play!!! LOL. I am blogging instead of chores. I need my fix since I have worked almost everyday for the last week or two and with my computer being down. This is my escape, me time if you will. I could go on forever about and read about prim and decorating since I am so passionate about it. Anyway, I attempted to take some pics AGAIN of my home. Let's see how they turned out shall we? I have more pics to go through and will hopefully get my Picturetrail updated this weekend. Along with taking pics of more stuff I'm cleaning out. So this is my sneak peak of summer decorating...



Below my dresser drawer turned cubby is where I'm going to hang that stitchery in my last post is going to go. I am down to the alphabet and I will be done.







My kitchen, which I have not started my buttery yet. But since I am selling one of my cabinets I had to redecorate a little.



Well, one of the other paramedics here today wants to do some training and practicing of intubating (putting tubes down people's throats). So watch for updates over the weekend. :) Oh and if you ever send me an email and I don't respond within 24 to 48 hours please email again. I am having problems of emails going to my spam folder.
