Sneak Peek...

I am sitting at work on my second job and thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of what I worked on yesterday. I got quite a bit done but I don't want to show you everything yet because I'm still working on it.

We went from this... blah off white...

To color...

To this... the red shutter(from my recent trash find) is covering my doorbell thingy... sorry this pic is grainy it was with my cell phone last night.

Close up a tad better...

Time to post...

I am home after a very long 24 hour shift at work yesterday. Please excuse me if I forget words or I just sound like I'm falling asleep. LOL. ZZzzzzzz... Snort. Sorry dozing off. I have taken my shower and had two cups of coffee since coming home at 7:30 this morning and I am bound and determined to get some decorating done. So before I dig into that I said I would share with you what I got over the weekend.

Like I said I met some wonderful ladies from A Primitive Journey proboards in Berlin Ohio. This is an Amish settlement about 45 minutes away from where I live. I only get down there a few times a year. I happened to see on Facebook that they were having a prim gathering and since I haven't been out with "girlfriends" in a long time I decided I would go. Let me just tell you they opened up their arms and welcomed me like they had known me forever. These gals were the best! I even ran into a "friend" I had met on Prim Mart before my whole divorce thing. She happened to be with the group of ladies. Anyway, long story short... I had a wonderful time and if any of you are reading this Thank You so much for everything.

So of course I have my favorite shops. I know which ones to hit and the ones to skip. LOL. I can power shop like the best of them.

Shop #1...

Can you believe $13.99??!!?? I now have three doesn't that constitute a collection??? LOL

Everything in the below picture was 50% off!!!!!!

OK I also bought the next two Judy Condon books that I forgot to take a picture of because they are in my bag I take to work.

Store number 2 and 3...

You all know my new obsession CHEAP coverlets. The blue one in the middle is a remnant of and old coverlet. I LOVE LOVE LOVE oh did I say LOVE the blue ones? The other two I thought would look awesome in my living room.

I did leave a bit early when the rest of the group wanted to go to a neighboring town as my low back pain was kicking in from all the walking. I felt bad. I said my goodbyes and gave huge hugs and home I came.

As you all know from yesterday we painted my living room. I came home this morning to find Steve had rearranged some of the furniture yesterday while he was here with my kids. So take a good look and we will see how much of the furniture will stay in that place. During this decorating extravaganza we will periodically refer back to these pictures as a reference. LOL. I have already spoke to Steve and I will be selling some of the furniture he made me due to space constraints. He is OK with it. For now I will show you how he sees my living room. LOL.

The table under the TV is for sale. I will be scraping the white cabinet and repainting it. What color you might ask? I have NO idea. LOL. But it will come to me.

My son popping bubble wrap from my plate I bought over the weekend. LOL And "Mr. Fishy" the only pet we are allowed will be staying in his place of honor. Ummm... yea the fish that won't die. My son won it from a carnival last year. You know how most die in a day or two. Not this one!!! LOL.

OK everyone, for those who have blogs I did a lot of reading yesterday at work. I may not have posted, but believe me I read it!. It seems I've been gone forever. LOL. Back to the grind of decorating... Oh please give me a pity party. NOT!!!!! You all know I LOVE to do it.

What I've Been Up To...

Geez everyone I've haven't posted in so long. I've been trying to adjust to my new work schedule over last week. Then in between I've been working on my make do chair and finishing up customer orders. Then yesterday I met some fabulous ladies from A Primitive Journey proboards in Berlin Ohio. I had so much fun talking with and shopping with them. I'll show you my finds this week. Right now I'm at work as I type this on Steve's laptop.

I have been wanting to paint my living room. So this week Steve and I went Lowe's and I broke down and picked my paint. I just kept standing there looking at the historical colors. I just couldn't decide. Well I finally decided on Caramel.

So I went from this... why does it seem like a lot of stuff when you put it in another room? lol

To this....

A blank slate to start over. Yippeee!!!! So stay tuned to see what I decide.

Funny story...

Today I am at work with a girl I've never run with before. She was looking at her phone and said you gotta see what my boyfriend did in my living room. He hung these pictures over the couch. She shows me her phone and lo and behold a Johnston Benchwork couch with a George Washington and Abe Lincoln pictures hung above. I'm like nu uh. LOL I started laughing pulled my Judy Condon books out and said I decorate the same way. So she took my books and is looking through them right now. Then I showed her my premier issue of A Primitive Place. She is in heaven. She said she just started decorating this way. Today is gonna be a great day!!!!!!

Here's the picture... Stacie was kind enough to let me post this...

I really don't have much to talk about since my last post. I just got home from working my first 24 hour shift. I got a total of three hours sleep. I'm not sleeping yet... because I decided to make an appointment with a massotherapist to see if that would help my back. I'm kind of excited though I don't like people I don't know touching me. Hopefully I can relax enough to enjoy it.

Remember me talking about the "promotion" I was given at work? Well it was taken away. Someone complained to the management that the position wasn't posted for all the employees to bid on. A bunch of people were moved around at work to different positions. None of these people had to bid on their positions the boss put them there. Mine is the only one. To top it off I have to work in the position until September 1st until the new person takes over. I don't have enough seniority yet to win the bid. So asked if I could go back to my old position and was told someone had already filled it. So as of September 1 I have no idea what shift I will be working or if I will even have a job. I am soooooo mad.

On the lighter side I did have time to work on my sampler yesterday at work. It is so funny whenever I pull it out to work on people are always amazed. LOL My old partner kept asking me if I was knitting. Seriously! Anyway, I am making progress.

I had a day off on Saturday so while was Steve was away helping his parents I decided to get started on my make do chair. I showed you a picture a few days back. Well, you don't have to look because we changed it a bit. So for now I am keeping it a secret until it's done. I can show you this though.

This will be my slipcover for the chair. And let me tell you I'm glad I bought a few extra yards of fabric because I can't add and measure. LOL. I kept telling myself I wasn't going to mess up and that I would take my time. Well, lets just say I cut two pieces of fabric wrong. Then I couldn't get my seams to match up the way I wanted. It took a good bit of the day. Now I am so excited about how it's going to look. I just need to paint and spruce up the "chair" part before I show you.

Oh and I bought the new color for my living room walls. Steve says we can paint this weekend. I need to take stuff down off the walls and fill holes so that I have a blank canvas to start with. The color is "Caramel" and from Lowe's. I even picked out my kitchen color too. But that will wait a few as I need to finish getting the border off the walls. Steve wanted to paint the walls green in the kitchen. Not just any green but pistachio pudding green. I finally talked him out of it and it too will be neutral. Then he wanted to do an accent wall red with neutral. Don't get me wrong I like the idea, but this is a rental and it would be hard to paint over later. That and to me that's not the look I want.

Anyway, I'd better get cracking in case I take a nap later I need to get some things done. I'll try to catch up with all of you later today.

I Can't Help Myself

I planned on staying home and stitching yesterday. But I had some errands I needed to run. My son decided to go with me. Yea he's only doing it out of sheer boredom. His friend went to his Dad's for an entire month. So now I am suppose to keep him occupied. Anyway, I went to the drug store and picked up two new magazines. I got the Do It Yourself and Create and Decorate ones. Even Steve liked looking through them. But I digress... We decided to drive through town to go home. The street I normally turn on was closed due to road construction. Dang it!!! Well, then we just turned in the shopping plaza and HAD to drive by the Goodwill. You know me I can't pass it up. I asked my son and he was all for stopping. He of course went to look for clothes and me, I went straight to the home decor section in the back. People must be taking everything they don't sell at their yard sales because there was a ton of stuff.

Here are the things I found.

Can you believe this is one of those awful plastic placemats? I remember we had these as kids and in the summer they got all sticky no matter how many times you washed them. I bought this one for the pattern. I think I can recreate some of these things on cloth.

Of course I had to buy this horse. If you'll remember I have a horse weather vane and a horse in my header picture. I thought this little one would be awesome.

Then I saw this one... I think it use to be a rocking horse but someone tore off the rockers. It is a lot darker in person.

Then I spotted all this unfinished wood... Can't you see all the possibilities?

Then I found a bag of pegs for peg racks.

Last but not least some cinnamon sticks to put in a jar.

I also bought two sweaters. Yes really I bought them even though it's 90 degrees out. My son has the thrift fever. Yesterday while we were looking at jeans for him he saw one of the workers have a pair of jeans that "are in style Mom". He was pacing. He kept looking at me hoping she would put them down. "Mom" he whispered " I wonder what size those are?" "I don't know" I told him. Then of course I said "Well, maybe she is putting them aside for one of her kids." She had like 4 pair in her hand that she kept looking at the sizes. She walked up front and we went about our shopping. He just kept talking about those jeans. I happened to go up front and started looking through the racks that they put up front for different seasons. Like July 4th, swimsuits for summer, so on and so forth. I happened to spot the jeans my son was drooling over. He grabbed them and went sprinting off to the dressing room to try them on because they were one size bigger than what he wears. He comes back and throws them in the cart. He claims this is how they are wearing them big and baggy. OK who am I to deny my son a pair of designer jeans for $4.00? As of today, in the 90 degree weather, he is wearing them. He even had to try on his work boots with them to show me that they are suppose to bunch around his boots. Good thing is they actually fit his waist so I don't have to worry about droopy drawers. LOL. So one pair of jeans for school bought. LOL. YES!!!! I've started school shopping.

Well, I need to get going we are going to the movies to see "Despicable Me". Then we will meet my parents for dinner after for my son's birthday that was on Sunday. Look out Ryan's here we come.

Projects Finished and Started

I've been trying to get some projects finished up since I have so many things I've bought from the thrift store and not done what I said I would. So I took the opportunity this weekend to work on some things. I worked for the most part, but in between and late into the night I got some things done.

First off was this baby... No this is not how I'm going to leave this. LOL. It looks great in my dining room now.

Next, were the molds I just bought that were unfinished. I would normally use a really dark stain walnut, but I like the warm richness of the chestnut for these.

Ok those are done. Now for the things I'm working on.

I started this sampler a few weeks ago and slowly, but surely I'm figuring it out. I put my peacocks too low so now I need to put something above them. This sampler is a combo of a bunch of free designs I've found on the web. I have been working on it at work.

Next my fall wheels are turning. Now sure I like it. Kinda not my style, but I was just trying to get some kind of mojo going in my head. It's not done of course because I ran into a wall trying to decide what other than coffee stain I want to do to it.

My son and my Dad like to go and watch trains. They go and sit along the tracks around here and just see how many trains they can see. My son came home with all these lovely treasures from one of his excursions. He thought I might like to decorate with them. Ummmmm, I'm drawing a blank. They are steel so there is no way I'm drilling holes in anything. So, I have no idea what to do with them. LOL. Any ideas???

Sorry this is short, but the landlord is coming to fix my bathroom counter top. I'm going to work on my sampler hopefully today if all goes right.
